With “a flexibility and range that are remarkable for her age,” (Greater Hamilton Musician), Alyssa DiMarco is a talented Canadian soprano with a passion for teaching. Alyssa has diverse experience in concert, opera, music theatre and jazz, and has performed with the Toronto Concert Orchestra, Tafelmusik, the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra, the Rose Orchestra of Brampton, and the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.
Alyssa recently returned to the Toronto Concert Orchestra as the soloist for their Gershwin Greats Concert, and was featured as the soprano soloist in Faure’s Requiem with the Rose Orchestra. Additionally, she originated the role of Luanda in the world premiere and recording recording of Canadian composer William Lavigne’s new musical Jack & the Beanstalk. Alyssa was in the Oklahoma Premiere of Leonard Bernstein’s Mass and Adam Guettel’s The Light in the Piazza, which toured to Arkansas. She is also heard on the Bass School of Music’s commercial recording of the Berlioz Requiem.
Alyssa graduated from Oklahoma City University’s renowned Opera and Music Theatre program and holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music, where she studied with Dr. Darryl Edwards. Alyssa has also sung in masterclasses with acclaimed Metropolitan Opera sopranos Rita Shane, Mary Jane Johnson and Sarah Coburn.
Alyssa is passionate about her work with Smile Theatre, bringing music to seniors in retirement and long care homes who can no longer make it to the theatre. She also works for Fantasy Fables Children’s Entertainment, a where she plays the roles of Elena from Elena of Avalor, Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Princess Anna from Frozen. She loves making “dreams come true” with Fantasy Fables as the company visits children at SickKids Hospital in Toronto.
